In some cases, there will be a need for an alternative EIT source. Often the EIT data is received via DVB-S/T/C. But if you don't have any DVB frontends installed on the TDX, you have no EIT source. For instants, if you only receive the services via IP-in. To overcome this problem, you can add an alternative EIT source.

The TDX supports Alternative EIT source on all inputs, if wanted.

NOTE: For this to work on DVB-S/T/C frontends, you need the 'Alternative EIT Source License' installed, on the TDX recieving the alternative EIT data. The licenses is not needed for alternative EIT on IP-in!

You can only use Alternative EIT Source on 1 input !

In this example, we use a TDX, as the generator of this Alternative EIT.

The setup is, as following:

TDX1: This TDX is just generating a MPTS with IPTV (3 services from SAT) and a Barker Channel.

TDX2: This TDX is receiving the MPTS and the Barker channel. This is the one, we will do the configuration on.

Important : The ONID (Original Network Id of service) must be the same.

1. Setting up the EIT Source and IPTV MPTS (Input)

Go to 'Input' -> 'IP Input' pane on the TDX. Add a new IP Input, by clicking on the Setup icon.

Add the MPTS for the Barker Channel. In this case the Barker channel is on 224.27.10.10 Port 50176. Adding the channel an clicking 'Update' results in a blank servicelist, because there aren't any services, in this MPTS.

Note: Only one IP input can be used/selected as EIT input.

Next we need to add the IPTV MPTS - giving us the services. Here we need to specify the 'Alternative EIT Source'.

Clicking 'Update' gives us the services.

2. Setting up the IPTV SPTS (Output)

Netx we need to setup the SPTS, so we can stream the services the STB / TV in the network. First thing to do, is adding the services to IPTV Backend.

Click on the Setup icon, on the IP Backend. This example does not describe the difference between the priorities. Here we just select 'Prio. 1'.

Here I have added the 4 available services from the IPTV Input, When done adding them, click 'Submit'

3. Activating the EIT on IPTV

The final step is, to activate the EIT on the IPTV. For this, you need to go to 'Network'. Under 'IP Settings', switch the 'EIT' from 'Disable' to 'Full Actual - No Other' and click 'Submit'

4. Test

Now testing the output, shows the EPG/EIT on the services (here on DVBAnalyzer):

This concludes the guide for Alternative EIT Source. The TDX is recieving the EIT via the MPTS from the originating TDX.

Please remember, that the ONID has to be the same!

Alternative EIT Source License (only DVB-S/T/C FE)

For this to work on DVB-S/T/C frontends, you need the 'Alternative EIT Source License' installed, on the TDX recieving the alternative EIT data. The licenses is not needed for alternative EIT on IP-in!

You must purchase and install a 'Alternative EIT Source' License. To acquire this, please contact your Key Account Manager at Triax A/S. If you want to know more about this, please find more information here : Purchase / Retrieve a license

When the license is installed, it will look somewhat like this ( In the Admin section):

On the DVB-S/T/C frontend, you will be able to select an alternative EIT source:
