This article applies only for EoC software version 2.0.1.r87 and above!

Extending the EoC installation from an existing coax endpoint to an ethernet endpoint or directly from the controller, gives you the possibility to cover a larger area. There are 2 use case scenarios, where you can use the ethernet endpoint:

  1. Extending from a coax endpoint. In this scenario, you must configure the coax endpoint with the pass-through rule on the ethernet port.
  2. Extending from the controller itself. Please read the How do I connect to an EPE through an external switch? article for further information.

Configuring the Coax endpoint

Before you can connect and configure the Ethernet endpoint, you must configure/reconfigure the coax endpoint (marked with red), to which you will connect the ethernet endpoint.

Start by accessing the controller and navigate to "Network" -> "Group settings.

Create or edit an existing group.

Here I create a new group

Here I edit an existing group

In this example, I will just reconfigure the "Guest" group. My "Guest" group will look like this:

Configure the Coax endpoint

Navigate to "Network" -> "Endpoints" and change the group for the desired coax endpoint (the one where the ethernet endpoint is connected.)

Configure the Ethernet endpoint

You should now (after the coax endpoint restart and appearing in status "OK" again), see the Ethernet endpoint.

I can see the ethernet endpoint is online and I can assign it, to a configuration group:

If I look in the "Ethernet Client Status", I can see the ethernet endpoint connected to EPC_0502.
