There are several ways that you can connect three satellite positions into a TDcH or TDmH. The optimum method will ultimately depend on the channel list that you need to distribute and the number of transponders required off each satellite.

Below is a general overview of how this can be done:

  1. Direct connection of DCSS LNB’s to the satellite Inputs of the TDcH:

  • The TDcH Satellite Inputs need to be configured in SCR Mode.
  • The User Bands out of the TDcH can be entered manually, or, there are 4 Preset User Band settings that you can select, (if suitable for your purpose).
  • You have 16 Satellite tuners available on the TDcH, so as an example, if the three satellites are Astra, Hotbird and Turksat, you could have 8 Transponders off Astra, 6 off Hotbird and 2 off Turksat, (or any combination making up a total of 16).

    NOTES:
  • There are a maximum of 8 Satellite Tuners available on the TDmH.
  • Refer to the documentation for the dCSS product employed for the applicable User Bands required.

  1. Using the TdSCR 906C Multiswitch:

This option would have the following set-up:

  • A Wideband LNB on each dish.
  • TdSCR 906C set to Wideband Mode.
  • V/H off each LNB to Wideband Satellite Inputs 1, 2 and 3 of the TdSCR 906C.
  • Set the rotary switches on the multiswitch outputs to EN50607. The multiswitch will now accept up to 10 user bands on each consumer output.
  • Select Channel Plan ‘I’.

  • Two feeds from the TdSCR 906C consumer outputs to the TDcH Satellite Inputs;
    • TDcH Satellite inputs set to SCR Mode.
    • TDcH SCR Inputs set to ‘Preset 2’
  • As the TDcH has 16 satellite tuners, and there are 10 User Bands available on each multiswitch output, you will need 2 satellite inputs to be connected to the multiswitch.*
  • Any of the TDcH Satellite tuners can be set to receive ANY satellite.

*NOTE: As there are a maximum of 8 Satellite Tuners on the TDmH, only one satellite input                                         needs to be connected to the TdSCR 906C.

3. Installations where only Quattro LNB's can be used:

This scenario can occur on marine installations where tracking satellite dishes are required.

  • 2 x Satellite Position, (Quattro LNB's), to the TdSCR 906C in Quattro Mode.
