When CAMs fail to operate and continually show as resetting in the Log Files and:
1) Descrambling is not possible for chosen services.
2) Error Recovery enabled, thus restarting the CAM repeatedly over and over again.
and where:
Observations in the log files point in the direction of the smartcard doesn't have the needed authentication to descramble the chosen services. Nothing wrong with the TDmH/TDcH unit.
If the system is configured to use "Error Recovery" this results in CAM being restarted repeatedly over and over again with a back-off interval (period between the restarts increase for each restart until it reaches 1 hour).
Please do following:
a) Disable "Error Recovery" until all runs. If the entitlement is sent to the smartcard during a restart, then the smartcard will not be updated.
b) Test if the smartcard can descramble in another device. The log point in the smartcard is not updated. Thus, keep the smartcard in a device, without "Error Recovery" for a period.
c) All CAM and smartcards have a limit for the numbers of services and elementary streams (PID). Check the smartcard's and the CAM's datasheets. The number of PID and services are listed inside the CAM page. Are this limit reached?
d) Is it possible to descramble only one service?
e) Please always ensure that the CAM speed is configured to fit within the limit of the CAM. Check the CAM's datasheet.
